AttractionIncluded in the Pass

The Rock Church, or Temppeliaukio Church, is one of Helsinki's most unique architectural landmarks. Carved directly into solid granite, the church features a stunning copper dome that creates an impressive and serene atmosphere inside. Completed in 1969, the design by architect brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen blends modern aesthetics with natural elements, making it a popular attraction for both tourists and locals. The interior is known for its excellent acoustics, making it a favored venue for concerts and events. Located in the Töölö district, the Rock Church is a must-visit site that showcases Helsinki's innovative approach to design and architecture.

From Stop 14, use the walkway toward the Tradesmen sculpture, the ceramic relief on the facade of the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration. Cross the street at the traffic light toward the hill. If you don't have the CityPass, you can still enjoy the view from the outside.

Temppeliaukio Church

An architectural gem in Helsinki with unique features, fantastic acoustics and a sense of tranquillity. Guided tours, music performances and Temppis Shop offering souvenirs.

Temppeliaukio Church was inaugurated in 1969 as an Evangelical Lutheran church which soon turned into an internationally well-known architectural sight. It was designed by the architect brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen, specialised in rock building. The church is hewn into the two billion-year-old bedrock on site and the rough rock walls are visible all around the church hall together with drill marks and holes made by man. The church hall is situated inside the rock but not underground. Above there is a magnificent copper dome which adds to the famous acoustics of the venue, together with 180 skylights that let the natural light in be it cloudy or with clear skies. There are guided tours and music performances available all through the year and in Temppis Shop you´ll find Temppeliaukio´s own souvenir collection.
