This Night of the Arts, giant giraffes take over the streets of Helsinki! The astonishing animal operetta Les Girafes by the French theatre group Compagnie Off is a monumental street performance in the form of a parade, combining masterful giant puppetry, circus, burlesque, and opera. The parade will set off from the intersection of Keskuskatu and Pohjoisesplanadi at around 7:00 p.m. and proceed along Pohjoisesplanadi, turning from Unioninkatu onto Senaatintori, where the show’s grand finale will take place (approx. 10 min). After the performance, the giraffes will stay for a moment to greet the audience. Senate Square offers the best spots to watch the performance more comfortably, for example with a stroller; Pohjoisesplanadi may become crowded.
